Protect Your Vision With Goji Berries

Protect Your Vision with Goji Berries

According to research conducted at the University of California, consuming a modest quantity of dried goji berries on a regular basis may help prevent or postpone vision loss.

Read on to find out how this famous superfood can act as an effective preventative measure against vision problems.

The Study

For three months, doctors asked 13 healthy individuals between the age of 45-65 to ingest around 28.34 grams of dried goji berries five times a week. A second group of people involved in the study consisted of 14 additional volunteers. They took a commercial eye health product instead of the berries. Researchers compared the concentration of protective colors in the patients’ eyes before and after the research period. They discovered that only the vision of the goji berry team improved, whereas the additives group showed no change.

The eye health improvement was most likely due to two components included in the berries – zeaxanthin and lutein. Both of which have been shown to treat AMD (age-related macular degeneration) -related eye illnesses.

Health Benefits

One of the advantages of dried goji berries is that a minimal amount is required to make an impact, and the chemicals are also extremely bioavailable. They are generally well absorbed in the digestive tracts so that the body can utilize them.

Other Fruits Can Help Too

Zeaxanthin and lutein are commonly found combined in foods, such as egg yolks, maize, orange bell peppers, zucchini, spinach, and other types of squash.

See Clearly

As you grow older, it’s important to safeguard your vision. By affecting your center field of vision, AMD can impair your ability to identify faces and read. There are generally no signs in the early stages, so improving your eyesight now can help safeguard it in the future.
